Schools start closing — or delay reopening — as covid-19 cases jump across the country

In other places — including Texas, Utah, Michigan, Georgia and Indiana — some districts are temporarily closing schools that already opened, often because of pandemic-caused staffing shortages. New York City schools could close as early as Monday as covid-19 cases rise

The latest data from New York shows that the rate of positive coronavirus tests is not quite there but is rising. On Thursday, he tweeted that the rate was 2.6 percent and said: “We still have a chance to turn this around. Each and every one of us has a role to play.
