This Week at DE: Week of December 6


Good evening Twitter family! My name is Drew Hammill and I’m an instructional design manager at discover education. I get to use my experience as a teacher to create inspiring and engaging resources for students to use across the worldLet’s chat about what’s happening at Discovery Education this week! 

Join us on Wednesday, December 9 at 5:30PM to virtually learn, connect and share with educators from across the country for the Ignite My Future in School Virtual TECHademy. The 3-hour immersive virtual Professional Learning session will focus on engaging students in real-world problem solving using computational thinking. It’s a free event for any teacher to register and attend! 

 

This Thursday, December 10 is Human Rights Day, and we encourage you to explore relevant resources in our Speak Truth to Power channel in Discovery Education Experience. The channel features powerful storytelling from influential human rights defenders around the world. There’s also a Master Class Series for educators with strategies to foster greater teacher capacity in bringing human rights education into the classroom. 

 

And lastly, I just wanted to throw in a reminder to explore our holiday content in Discovery Education Experience! There are resources and instructional materials to support students in learning about Hanukkah, Christmas and KwanzaaSpeaking of the holidays, don’t forget to focus on self-care during a time that can bring added stress for both you and your students.

 

Our wellness channel includes K-12 resources for topics like maintaining a positive outlook, mindfulness and gratitude.
